A detailed packing list created by myself, for you. This is catering for the Disney Exchange Program, from an internationals perspective, more specifically, a New Zealander’s (Australasia).

Packing for a trip, let alone moving to another country, can be a daunting time. You sit on the floor for hours packing and unpacking your bag, holding things to see if they spark joy (Marie Kondo), debating why you have so much, wondering why you don’t have enough, it’s never ending. Thankfully with the uprise of people wanting to share their tips and tricks, a quick click can open a never ending cycle of packing lists. Here is one that may just be the one for you!

1**: Carry on bag for the plane**

• Travel pillow
• Small purse size tissues, lip balm
• Eye mask (it can be bright)
• Snacks/gum
• Empty water bottle
• Change of clothes

2: Essentials

• Passport/visa/boarding pass
• Government issued I.D
• Insurance card/proof

5: Clothing

Now, clothing is a totally different subject on its own. Every single person will have their own preferences, styles, weather condition tolerances and more. Based off further research as well as my own preferences, i have curated the list below.

• Dresses (long, sundress)
• Hoodies/Jersey
• Tee’s/staple tops
• Business casual shirts (for traditions)
• Blazer (traditions)
• Denim shorts/bike shorts

6: Other

In terms of apartments and decorating, international cast members get little to no option of bringing our entire houses with us on the plane. Luckily, there are buses directly from the accomodation in Florida to 2 local targets, which is our window to purchase things in the ‘other’ category. You can choose to squeeze these into your bags or wait until arrival, but here are a few ideas.

• Photo-frame with a picture of loved ones for bedside table
• Non-flame candles (electric wax burners, essential oil diffusers , etc)
• Linen for beds (check your allocated room for the bed size)/mattress pad
• Decorative pillows/throw blankets
• Apartment utensils (Staples of these are offered by Disney to the whole apartment, though buying some for yourself may be handy, check this link for further details: https://sites.disney.com/lifeatdisney/disney-programs/2021/05/10/welcome-home-introducing-flamingo-crossings-village/)
• Decorations for the wall (lights, canvases, etc)
• Hangers/shoe organiser /back door hooks for closet.
• Towels, face cloths, hand towels, bathmats
